Our web site is especially valuable for those thinking about switching from one operating system to another such as from Windows to Linux or MacOSX. You can begin using an application now with confidence that you will still be able to use it after your switch is completed.

We have a community of loyal users who provide the feedback we need to keep our web site updated. *As an extra bonus for Linux users who are using a Debian/Ubuntu based distribution, you can simply click on the logo of an application to install it from your default repository. If not using Ubuntu, you can install the necessary "apturl" package from the command line by entering as root: apt-get install apturl, or as user: sudo apt-get install apturl. This step is necessary for Linux Mint which is perhaps the distribution easiest to use for Linux beginners, and will not disable the normal Linux Mint Software Portal application installer.
